hey Ross, the verdict is in. My daughter has laxity in her neck ligaments.
So I am getting her a Nexl 3/4 helmet, and I wanted to get some more info on the neck support (collar?) that we had discussed.
She has the OK to ride with these items!
Yeeeaaa!
TIA

Why 3/4 as oppose to a full? I've had friends whose faces would have been smashed to pieces if it hadn't been for a chin bar. Instead, they walked away with no injuries to face, neck, and head.

The reason Ray is the weight of the helmet... the 3/4 is a LOT lighter...
Generally speaking THESE (http://www.helmetcity.com/page/HC/PROD/A1/paddednecksupport) neck supports require use of a full face so I am not sure if you can get something like this to work...... you may be able to find a lightweight full face to use plus this... here is another link... (same link)

It's all a weight issue. I have to get the least weight and most protection with the added support of the neck thingie.
And as for myself, I wouldn't wear one, at all, if it weren't a law.
(heeheehee I love helmet threads)
I'm glad your friend was not seriously injured!

ooOOPPSS! Yea, what Ross said.

Nexl does have full face. Not likely, but I'll look closer at them.
This neck thing does look like it will work. and with a removeable cover, I'll bet I can make a nice cotton cover and modify the front for chin to collar bone clearance as opposed to that with a full face.
Excellent. Thanks for your help!

Helmet Laws... I don't believe in them! Same for seatbelts laws for that matter... for adults anyway. I would still wear one, but it should be your right to choose. I've seen too many times what a helmet have prevented, even in minor mishaps. Just look at helmets after a crash; yes, even minor lowsides. Yeah, helmet threads do get a bit too heated at times. LOL It doesn't need to be. People should respect each other's opinions.
Good luck with your daughter! The donuts Ross pointed out are used by professional drivers. It should do the trick!

Yup I agree with Ray... but looking at the broader picture of Big Brother trying to protect us... the fact that peoples melons dont have any protection by themselves the govt is trying to make riding safer... plus the fact that some helmets are bright colors adds to the visual safety... do I agree with a law on helmets... no.... would I ever ride without one... no.... not even in states that dont require them... ya kinda look funny riding in NH with a helmet when no one else has one on... but F-Them... its my head....
